I Am the Forest

My head is buzzing, filled with a swarm of angry bees

And I feel caged in this urban jail.

Confined in this symmetrical box,

I truly belong in a shape of asymmetry.

The fluorescent lights blind me,

Leaving an after-image of darkness.

It’s as if I’m a living photo negative.

The world around me is shining bright,

Yet the world is still so dark.

So, I break down the doors

And step into the sunlight.

The sun warms my face,

And illuminates my life,

Showing me the world in a whole new light

In more ways than one.

The breeze brushes my brow,

While it whispers in my ear,

Telling me the secrets of the world,

And now it’s so clear:

This is where I belong.

 Entering the forest,

All sound melts away,

Except for a voice that speaks in my ear:

“I am the forest.

You are the forest.

We all are one.”
